Woman Empowerment -- The traditional, Indian Way!!!!

It has been ages since I visited my blog.....I missed musing, scribbling down recipes, taking pictures, with backdrops, without  and all possible blog associated activities!!!
What was I up to??????  From Blogosphere, I got transported to doll-'o'-sphere!  Nooooo, I did not mean the American Doll sphere space....I meant an age old tradition in Southern India where they celebrate women, women empowerment, girl power et al by celebrating 10 day festival, worshipping differnet forms of goddesses!!  This is what I shared with my 2 eight year olds....Read on....
Day 1:  Goddess Durga!
Kumari -- which signifies the girl child is worshiped today.
Day 2:  Goddess Parvati!
She who is the embodiment of a young woman is worshiped today!
Day 3:  Goddess Kali!
Who represents the woman who has reached the stage of maturity!!
Day 4, 5 and 6:  Goddess Lakshmi!!
The fourth, fifth and sixth day of Navratri are dedicated to the worship of Lakshmi - the goddess of prosperity and peace.
Day 7 and 8:  Goddess Saraswati!!
The seventh day is dedicated to worshiping Saraswati, the goddess of art and knowledge. Prayers are offered with an aim to seek spiritual knowledge!!!
Day 9: Kanya Lakshmi!!!
The ninth day is the final day of Navratri celebrations. It is also known as 'Mahanavami'. This day is dedicated to little girls who have not attained puberty!  Kanya puja is performed!
Day 10:  Culmination of Navaratri!
Vijayadasami Celebrations!  An important day in the life of a student and a teacher.... today is when you start any activity as in art form, sports, learn to read and write, basically any form of learning!
