You run around tirelessly, trying to please everybody, to do a gazillion things, to have that much dreamt about soak (that somehow gets missed in all the weekend humdrum!) and to tend to the house..... by the time half of all these get accomplished and you turn around....and go.... hey where did my weekend go????!!!! Hahaha! I do that all the time, thus I complain too! Hey...complaining is every housewife's birthright or so I heard it somewhere or might have made that up somewhere along the way!!!
Well... my weekend did start and end great (so what am I complaining about right??? very contradicting....that's mua!!! Now..did I not tell you it was my birthright??!) .... had a fun time on Friday, taught a class at my local school...was more like hanging out with a bunch of girlfriends!!!
On Saturday....went out with one of my dahlings! My daughter...my best friend off late...I confide a lot in her, tell her secrets (all rated "G"!!), my fears, my moments of happiness.... she nods, beams, pouts, laughs, basically reacts just the way I want her to...almost like my own little personal genie doll!! So, she and I trotted off to the local market....
my friends from a dance school here were conducting a "kolam" workshop at teh MILL CITY FARMER"S MARKET that drew us there and lo! I was drawn into these quaint surroundings with almost a bohemian feel to it!! I loved it!!! Maybe I was that in my past birth! Well...that is another blog material now....!!!!!!!!!
Also, met with a Warli artist!! A little snippet on Warli... they are a tribe from Maharashtra, who lead a very "green" and simple life coexisting harmoniously with nature! They are least affected by today's modernization and their art work depicts their lifestyle led today!! I am focusing of course on a different angle here... the Warli cuisine! Which I am planning on sharing some and blogging about it! But here is Anil Chaitya Vangad, the Warli artist posing with us!
Zoom the artwork to take a look at this closely. Please Google Warli artwork to know more about this ancient and dying art!
Since we were hogging too much of his time, we ventured out to find some good produce, did not fine anything exotic...so settled for some eats......
Shree wanted to try some crepes....so had the nutty nutella crepes...that was hot, chocolatey, gooey and of course fattening :(((( But that did not stop us duo from polishing off 3/4th of it, 1/4th was saved for the other twin!
You can see the crepe guy whipping up fresh crepes by the minute!!!
They served the best water melon cooler ever!! Will come up with the recipe soooooon! |
Shree tried the momos...for the first time and was hooked on to them!!!! Will post the best ever momo recipe....very soon!!!! |
Tibetan Women churning up momos!! |
Now...these were like our good old "Mor Appam" ..a Scandinavian treat -- Aebleskiver!!! An Indinaized Aebleskiver your way... |
Oooh! Looking forward to the momo recipe. Always wanted to make them but don't have a clue how to. The kolams look so cute. I have quite a lot of that tribal art in my Bangalore home. They were quite the rage in India a couple of years ago.
